The Gift of Healing
How It Works
Birth tissue donation is one of the easiest ways to make a significant impact on the lives of others. You and your baby have the opportunity to provide a second chance at life for people in need.
Collaboration
telaGen's staff work alongside the hospital staff to make the donation process as seamless as possible and does not change anything about your delivery or medical care. There is no cost to you for any part of the donation process.
Consent
Our recovery technicians will work with you to complete an informed consent and medical history questionnaire. This is very similar to the blood donation process. This interview will take 15-20 minutes of your time and usually takes place prior to delivery of your baby.
Blood Sample
A blood sample is required for blood borne pathogen testing; however, the hospital will draw additional tubes of blood for telaGen’s purposes to prevent an additional blood draw and needle stick.
Medical Records
telaGen's staff will also obtain a copy of your relevant medical records to be used for screening purposes.
Packaging
Our recovery technician will go to work after your baby is delivered. You won’t even notice them, as you will be focused on taking care of your new baby. The birth tissue will be aseptically packaged and shipped off to a tissue processor for allograft production.
